Thinking on Your Feet
In most language classes, you are given time: time to prepare, to plan, to revise. But in real professional life at the highest level, the moments that define how you are perceived often happen without warning. A question from the floor during a presentation. An unexpected challenge in a negotiation. A crisis that requires you to speak clearly and confidently before you have had time to think. At C2 level, fluency is not enough — the real skill is performing under pressure.
In this activity, you will take part in a high-level speaking task that simulates a real spontaneous communication scenario — an expert panel, a crisis briefing, or an unscripted Q&A. You will practise improvising coherent, structured responses, managing uncertainty in spoken discourse, and using advanced language for framing, hedging and redirecting in real time.
By the end of this activity, you will be able to respond spontaneously to complex, unpredictable speaking situations in English at C2 level, demonstrating control of register, argument structure, and discourse management under pressure.
